Growing up in Norway, I have had the privilege to easily travel to many beautiful places. My art is inspired by the shape and color of my travels, as well as the mystery of nature and its seasons. I choose uplifting subjects both cultural and natural. Many of my paintings center on things that are in danger of disappearing, so that they will at least be preserved on ca nvas.

My background in art spans from Japan, where I studied Sumi painting and wood block printing, to the Laguna Beach School of Art where I studied drawing, sculpture and painting. My preferred medium is oil paint, and I like to experiment with impasto, pallet knife and iridescents. I enjoy plein air painting because it really lets me get a feeling for my subject. If I cannot paint on-site then I mainly paint from my own photographs. I have also been teaching art to children and teens, and am constantly growing and learning along with them.

I am also teaching printmaking classes at High Hand.  Classes are every Sunday at 12:00, at the gallery.  You can sign up here ahead of time by clicking the button below, or just drop in.  Classes are $25, and all materials are provided.
